Inside the book

From molecule to clinic, in fourteen chapters.

Designed as a graduate course

Diagnostic Tests for Biological Aging

The textbook maps directly to a 15-week graduate seminar built around lecture, wet-lab, and weekly journal club. Each chapter anchors a week of structured assessment — from CLSI-aligned validation studies to a capstone analytical validation portfolio defended orally in the final week.

Course description
This graduate seminar introduces the molecular and cellular diagnostics used to assess biological aging — from epigenetic clocks and telomere assays to SASP biomarkers, mitochondrial function tests, and multi-omic integration. Students learn to evaluate analytical validity through CLSI-guided frameworks, interpret clinical utility, and design validation studies for emerging longevity diagnostics. The course culminates in an analytical validation portfolio with oral defense.

"A masterful bridge between molecular gerontology and clinical laboratory practice. The validation frameworks alone are worth the read."

"Finally, a textbook that treats aging biomarkers with the same analytical rigor as any CLIA-validated diagnostic. Essential for any translational lab."

"The epigenetic clocks chapter is the clearest exposition I have encountered. My graduate students reference it weekly."
